[My] Life in Wisconsin

Cousin Buttercup- (And all Else)!

This picture- a bird in the Gulf...
How freakin' sad is that? (I couldn't even tell what it was at first)-

Good Morning All;

I'd better start off wth Saturday's sunrise in Flintville, or you will never get the above image out of your mind-

JUNE 2010 174
Now that's a better picture!
"Red sky at morning, sailors take warning; Red sky at night, sailors delight"

A busy one today- I am catching up on laundry, then have to run down the road and get some gas for the mower. Time to mow again.  My back doesn't like it much, just no options. It would be much worse if I was pushing the mower though.

It rained real good yesterday and Saturday.
My lawns and my weeds appreciate that. As do I.

There is something so right about smelling the rains, and hearing them on the tin roof.
I think Saturday's soaker was the first steady rain we have gotten in about 2 years.  We've been depending upon the on~and~off rains we have gotten... Gully washers, storms, and the like. (Nice too, to have precipitation come down all day and not have to shovel it). hehehe

Sputty wanted to go out in the worst way...

Sputty wants out!
-He had to settle for his litter-box in the basement. (Poor abused cat)!

My garden this year...

JUNE 2010 147
Part of it anyway; and so very abandoned...

A few more roses for you...
Can you stand it?

JUNE 2010 051
I love them! (As does Punk)!
hehehe
Suffice to say the back window STAYS open for the duration!

In reference to Miss Punk's blog from yesterday, she says to tell you all that licking paper plates just isn't the same...

JUNE 2010 179
Sorry, my flash wasn't set to go off. & that's only part of the destruction!

Punk licked two holes in this one.

001
I'd used it to cover a bowl of chowder- Must have been really GOOD!

Cousin Buttercup was here last weekend, on her way home to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
So good to see her!
She teaches in Colorado, and gets to spend a few months back home every year.

JUNE 2010 055     JUNE 2010 057

Having some fun with the camera before she left-
Tiffany, if you are reading this I am wondering if you got my message on Yahoo? I didn't hear back from you yet...

A few weeks back I bought a butternut squash, (I can only go so long without having one).
I saved the seeds.
Casey and I planted them out in the field...

Cnv0763
Such little rain, so I had to carry some water out for them-
Not too fat anyway? hehehe

Not sure if those seeds will mature or not- But Casey's irises sure did...

JUNE 2010 074

JUNE 2010 073
Never mind the dang weeds mixed in-

I am still blogging on my laptop- Not a good one for my pictures, but it will do. Greg and Casey will be coming out later. (Thank you Greg)!

Must close for now- Almost time to be outside...
Have a Monday!  ;-)

XOXO
Me

PS
Also in reference to the top picture (bird in the Gulf)...
I'd received it in an email. In it was stated that Kuwait owns 27% of BP.
I can't seem to find it anywhere, but don't know my way around a lot of sites.
Any truth to that 27% ?!?

I thought about the 30 year business I ran with 1800 employees
, all without a Blackberry that played music, took videos, pictures and communicated with Facebook and Twitter.

I signed up, under duress, for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, 13 grandkids, and 2 great grandkids could communicate with me in the modern way. (I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space).

That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix, and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting world.

My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation.

I am not ready to live like this! (I now keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag).

The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library.
I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the bluetooth
phone (it's red), that I am supposed to use when I drive.
I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife as everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. (Seems I have to take my hearing aid out to use it and I got a little loud).
I mean, the GPS looked pretty smart on my dashboard, but the lady inside was the most annoying, and rudest, person I had run into in a long time! Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-ul-ating!"  (You would think that she could be nicer). It was like she could barely tolerate me! She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. (Then when I would make a right turn instead, it was not good).

When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets- (While she is starting to develop the same tone as the GSP lady, at least she loves me).

To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones
in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings. Sound familiar?  Oh, please let it keep ringing until I find it- (Don't laugh, I'm serious).

The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store.  You would think they could settle on something themselves but this 'paper or plastic?'
every time I check out just knocks me for a loop.

I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused- but I never remember to take them with me.
Now I just toss it back to them.
When they ask me,
'paper or plastic?' I just say, "Doesn't matter to me, I'm bi-sack-sual!"
Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look.

hehehe    Have a wunnaful day!

Me

Thank you Auntie!

I Wuz Sleeping!

Me, in the woods

ARF!!!!!
(And we ALL know what THAT means)!

Yep! It's me, Punk!

I just wanted to let you know that I am alive and kickin'...

AND, there are times that I am still getting into trouble.
Can ya believe that?!
Really?!?  ('Cuz I kin hardly believe it myself)!

Me and she (and a'course the darn cat) went for our walk on Friday. I kinda sorta got a lil tired and went to go sit up on the back lawn.

.
JUNE 2010 145
She sees me, and hasta take a picture!
I guess 'cuz I'm jess so cute. (Ya think)?

I try to show her that it is hot, and I am darn tired.

.
JUNE 2010 146
I give her one of my biggest and loudest yawns.
(She ignores me and keeps toodling around).

So I lay down. (With a big loud grunt too).

She still pays no attention to me!
What the heck? Am I invisible now?!?
Mebbe so.

But my sniffer still works...
And what IS that yummy smell???

.
JUNE 2010 154
And oh boy, Oh Boy, OH BOY!, do these ever smell good!

I gotta get a better whiff...

.
JUNE 2010 153
Mmmmmmm!

But wait!
Anything that smells that good...
.
JUNE 2010 155
Has GOT to taste good too, don'tcha think?
.

JUNE 2010 156

WOW!
They taste even better than pussywillows!!!

.

JUNE 2010 157

Sumpthin' pokey tho'...
(But dats OK- I growled at it).

.
JUNE 2010 161
I shooked it up too!!!

When I shooked it, sumpthin' poked my butt!?
That wuz pretty brave!

JUNE 2010 162

Brave or not, I had to let it go...

.
JUNE 2010 168

But gosh, it was SO yummy!

And a'course I had to clean up my 'lil mess there!

But cleaning that mess up wuz nothin' compared to the mess "she" made in the kitchen yesterday mornin'.

See, I wuz still asleep, (cuz I had a big day before), when all of a sudden, "BANg!"
The biggest and loudest "bang" I have ever heard ! (It wuz also the fastest I ever woke up)!
Whatever happened to "let sleeping dogs lie"?!
I'll tell ya what happened to it is I get NO respect!

Anyway, she doesn't even turn around as she walks into the room (where I wuz sleepin'), -she only looks at me and sez "That cannot be good."

She walked back in there, but not before I went and 'nspected it fer her.

Oh my goodness, ya won't believe me!!!
I know ya won't!
But I'll tell ya anyway-  There wuz ALL of her dishes, in little pieces, and all over the floor!

Now what am I gonna lick off of? Not even those yellow things tasted as good as all those dishes did!

...an' who hollers at her???  No one!
It ain't fair, I tell ya, it jess ain't fair!

I hafta go pout now.

Love,
Punk

Infusion #4, and more!

Look closely for the tractor... Finally! ~ a bit of badly~needed attention for the fields...

Good Afternoon Everyone;
I am behind. (So what else is new)?
I wanted to try to get a bit caught up before we left for Casey's treatment this morning. Didn't work. But
here I am, finishing it now - hehehe
I am on my laptop- Greg will be rescuing my desktop computersaurus one of these days.
Seems as I broke it...
I repeat,  "
So what else is new?!?

Casey had a rough week, last- They will be doing blood tests before she is treated today, and hopefully we can all remember that she is to get her B-12 shot also. (Forgotten last week, but she is on quite a regimen of daily vitamins/mineral by mouth also).

I brought her to the hospital on Friday. Too much pain.
They treated her pain, I brought her home and that was that.
Mostly, as you well know by now, she does cope quite well with that pain- Just that sometimes it becomes very overwhelming for her. (For me too -as I can only pray and have to watch her to be in pain).
This is the first time since her TP/AIT (12-2008), that her pain was at a level 10. She said it is very comparable to her chronic pancreatitis pain! No one seems sure of whether this is from the iron, or possible adhesions from one of her surgeries.

Her blood pressure has been screwy too-  I sent her home with my little b/p machine to check it every now and then.
She goes to about 130/90, at her highest- But then drops way down to about 80/40. Normal (for her) is about 90/58. We run borderline low in my brood.
We are told that her b/p shall regulate itself once her iron treatments are discontinued.

Last week, in an effort to counteract some of the immediate side-effects of the iron, they gave her benedryl, 50mgs, -and a Zantec for her tummy.
.

.
Pre-Infusion. Casey & Ranitidine
The Zantec was octagonal but not parallel - a weird looking pill that didn't show up in my picture.

I was having fun playing with my camera that day- editing a few pics while Casey's IV ran.

I found an edit feature on my camera that is tagged "partial color". That's what I used for the above shot.

Iron Infusion 05/25/10
Ready with the saline, just in case...

A few shots from her hospital visit...

(The '59' was her heart-rate at that point in time).
Disregard the "ADMIT PATIENT" as I brought her home that same evening.

OK. Quit laughing already-

Driving to pick up Casey, I go past this gas station.

For some odd, strange reason, I was quite happy I did not need gas at the moment.

Grand Central SWAT
I was also happy that I didn't need anything swatted that day.  hehehe

Going back to the woodsafter we got home, I was thrilled that the boys were finally attempting to clear the field.
Rumor has it there will be cabbage this year...

Boring...

I'd better close for now...
Have plenty more blogging to catch up on, (and like cabbage I don't want to be boring you).

A Supermarket of Veterans Benefits for ALL Vets and Their Families

http://www.veteransbenefits.us/index2.htm

Also see: http://www.veteransbenefits.us/index2.htm

Hundreds of thousands of veterans, and those returning from war are potentially missing out on disability and other benefits.

The Supermarket of Veterans Benefits (SVB), was conceived to celebrate America’s most important heroes, the veterans, and meet their specific benefit needs. SVB’s awareness campaign is targeted to the over 26,000,000 U.S. veterans throughout the world. SVB attracts thousands of veterans, their family members, and general attendees, providing veterans the opportunity to learn more about veteran’s services and benefits they so richly deserve! In many cases, veterans are not receiving the benefits that are created and designed for them. The 2005 President's budget for Department of Veteran's Affairs provides approximately $67.7 billion for veteran's benefits and services. The SVB:

* Provides information and benefits for veterans, their families, and friends during a free one day fair set in a "one-stop-shop" festival atmosphere
* Provides every veteran with benefits information & claims initiation leading to potential compensation, pension, and other service issues

Personal Question for You- Traits

(Just don't look at it too long)...

Having just checked my email, here is a very interesting question from the yearbook.

"What is one trait you could not put up with in another person?"
Know that a trait, to me, is "inside/head/heart" character, not habits, etc...
Why?

Even after considering the list of those 7 Deadlies, for myself it has to be dishonesty.
I have been lied to countless times; which never bode well- either for the liar, or for myself.

What say you?
I would be willing to bet that, once again, your answers will "make" this blog very interesting !!!

Are You an Idiot?

Rating:★★★

Thanks a lot KelliBaby! (You got me)...

Good Morning Everyone!

You will just have to come to your own conclusion below...
(Astra, if you prefer, you may substitute the word "moron").
hehehe

LOL

1. You cannot stick your tongue out and look up at the ceiling at the same time.

2. All idiots, after reading #1, will try it.

3. They will then discover #1 is a lie.

4. You are smiling now (because you are an idiot).

5. You soon will share this with another idiot.

6. There is still a stupid smile on your face.

I apologize for this, but I'm an idiot, and I needed the company.

"Un..."

~looking into my eyes, from my own eyes.

Good Afternoon;
I know NOT how anyone can ride a roller-coaster. And especially this one...

I have accomplished zero today.
Almost as soon as I thought to become productive, the flashing lights began.
My throat is almost closed, but pouring out its slime- The stuff that makes and keeps one nauseated.
A hard way to spend a day, let alone an hour, of my life.

The homeplace looks absolutely abandoned. As I told Kristin earlier, I cringe to even look out my windows anymore. It is THAT bad.

I fell asleep much earlier- better that way, (for everyone).  hehehe

Casey called a few hours ago. Herself being ever~so ill from those damned iron infusions.
Seems as though she feels worse and worse each and every week.

These infusions play havoc with her already severely compromised insides; and it kills me even to hear that little voice sounding so weak and sickly on the phone.
Truth be known, it ANGERS me to no degree that I have ever felt anger before!
This young lady has been through so very much-  And they just keep dumping more and more and more and more ON her!
It is NOT fair.
It is unjust.
It is unreasonable.
That it is unjustified makes it even worse somehow.
JFK said it best: "
There is always inequality in life. Some men are killed in a war and some men are wounded and some men never leave the country. Life is unfair."

Hating the word "idiopathic" from the very first time they stamped her diagnosis with it.
It is still wrong. (And don't even bother to get me started on that word)!

Am thinking maybe if I get outside, even in this humidity; and maybe if the rains hold off long enough, I can still be a decent landowner and make this all 'look' a bit better.

F*ck it.  I am heading outside
"Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead."  (It is the nicest thing I can say right now).

Have a good one.
My love to all.

XOXO
