ARF!!!!
(And we ALL know what THAT means)...
.
.
I did NOT do it!
.
.
.
I do not care what YOU have heard.
I do not care what my "she" says.
I do not care if the sky is purple.
I do not care if YOU think it is magenta, (or 6 million other stupid colors).
.
.
I did NOT do it!!!
.
.
.
.
It is an unmitigated lie.
A scurrilous lie.
A damned monstrous lie.
A blatant misconception.
.
(Which only makes me realize that 'she' is old and ugly and mean)...
.
.
.
.
SHE said I stole something that was not mine!
.(Blasphemer)!
.
.
.
.
I would not EVER, EVER, do such a thing!!!!
.
.
.
.
Now here's the doo~doo on what REALLY happened...
.
.
.
.
"She" goes to walk out of the door.
...I wanted to go with her, but 'she' said "NO".
.(I do NOT like that word)...
.
.
.
But at this point, my memory is a bit hazy, and I am not really sure what happened.
.
.
But all of a sudden, I hear the door open again.
(This tells me she is back inside).
I run to meet and greet her.
And she says those four little words that would make any dogs paws quake.
"What have YOU done?"
I put on my bestest eyes, and look at her...
"Who, ME??"
"Nothing."
"I done NOTHING, I tell ya..."
.
.
But 'she' said my puppy dog eyes do not phase her in the least.
.
She says she KNOWS I done something wrong.
(But I didn't)!!!
.
.
.
I DID NOT GET INTO THAT LITTLE CONTAINER OF SOUR CREAM!
.
I WOULD NOT EVER DO SUCH A THING!
.
I COULD NOT DO IT, NOT TO HER (CUZ I KNOW HOW MUCH 'SHE' LOVES THAT ON HER TATERS)!
.
.
NOT EVER!

Good Solemn Morning...
I am thinking that I do not wish to offend anyone. And yet, I know that I probably will.
I have read through many of your blogs regarding September 11th, 2001.
Some have written about their own experiences.
Some about their political viewpoints.
Some have written about the feelings that this inspires within us.
We have all seen the conspiracy thoughts and videos, we have all seen the tragedies involved with the killing of innocents. We have all wrapped our arms around each other a little tighter too.
But I have yet to read ONE entry where there is a solution to any of this. Nor do I believe that I have that answer either.
I KNOW that Sept 11th, 2001 happened.
I know where I was. (Click).
I know where ALL of my loved ones were.
But it is not enough to simply acknowledge and know about all of this.
NO MATTER which side of the political arena we sit on, we need only to ensure that we do everything within our own power to ensure that the basic Preamble to the Constitution is met.
"We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
They searched for peace then. Trying to ensure it for all of us. It is all that we can hope and pray for now.
Good, bad (or ugly), this IS your land.
This is your home.
It is my home.
My parents taught me that there is honor in persevering.
And they taught me my own patriotic loyalty. That whatever happens, we all need to stick together, and never EVER waiver in that loyalty to our flag.
Too many have fought, many have died for us, since 1776, to turn our backs on any of it; in part or in whole.
Good. Bad. And everything inbetween.
I don't want to read about whether you think the war is right or wrong. Whether you want things to be different. We each have our own opinions sacred to our own souls.
I am waiting only to hear that we are SOMEHOW making/creating a difference for ourselves and for our babies.
**** As a VERY IMPORTANT end note here I am going to copy a note I had sent out late last night, after wrapping my head around our latest weekend... and the phone call that came late yesterday...
"Dear Friends and Family;
Yeah. ... Life. ... "It's kinda like that."
P*E*A*C*E.
XOXO

This, for all parents and teachers of every nation, race and creed...
Please feel free to link and to borrow the enclosed text. I will be bringing it to our local schools.
The following, because of our proximity to "Columbus Day"... (WHAT?!)?!?!?
Good Morning All!
It is a damp day, and 50 degrees as I type. (Beats the heck out of 90+ if you ask me).
A very good day to be cleaning too. (I will get to that nonsense when I am through here).

The following artwork was done by my niece, Meghand Dorand Keirs. She is a highly talented and respected artist. (Click on her name if you might like to see more of what she has done).

Having been trying to catch up on a few blogs, and being reminded that apathy and ignorance run rampant among some of us, I searched my danged computer for hours to find where I had stashed the following words... This, all brought on by reading Buttercups Blog about "Cowboys and Indians" from early this morning. Please click on that title should you want to see what made me go on a wild goose chase for these notes and ideas...
I am sorry that I cannot give credit to the author (but I know I had stolen it from one of the Native Groups on here).
Of interest is that every group of "peoples" that ourselves, (and our children), will ever interact with, can actually 'use' these ideas... whether of Native/Indigenous descent or not.
For example, a visitor to a child care center heard a four-year-old saying, "Indians aren't people. They're all dead." ...This child had already acquired an inaccurate view of Native Americans, even though her classmates were children of many cultures, including a Native American child.
Derman-Sparks (1989) asserts that by failing to challenge existing biases we allow children to adopt attitudes based on inaccuracies. Her book is a guide for developing curriculum materials that reflect cultural diversity. This digest seeks to build on this effort by focusing on teaching children in early childhood classrooms about Native Americans.
Note that this digest, though it uses the term "Native American," recognizes and respects the common use of the term "American Indian" to describe the indigenous people of North America. While it is most accurate to use the tribal name when speaking of a specific tribe, there is no definitive preference for the use of "Native American" or "American Indian" among tribes or in the general literature.
The term "Native American" includes over 500 different groups and reflects great diversity of geographic location, language, socioeconomic conditions, school experience, and retention of traditional spiritual and cultural practices. However, most of the commercially prepared teaching materials available present a generalized image of Native American people with little or no regard for differences that exist from tribe to tribe.
In these situations, teachers may prepare themselves for working with Native American families by engaging in what Emberton (1994) calls "cultural homework": reading current information about the families' tribe, tribal history, and traditional recreational and spiritual activities; and learning the correct pronunciation of personal names.
Three excellent titles on the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico are: PUEBLO STORYTELLER, by Diane Hoyt-Goldsmith; PUEBLO BOY: GROWING UP IN TWO WORLDS, by Marcia Keegan; and CHILDREN OF CLAY, by Rina Swentzell.
4. OBTAIN POSTERS THAT SHOW NATIVE AMERICAN CHILDREN IN CONTEMPORARY CONTEXTS, especially when teaching younger elementary children. When selecting historical posters for use with older children, make certain that the posters are culturally authentic and that you know enough about the tribe depicted to share authentic information with your students.
5. USE "PERSONA" DOLLS (dolls with different skin colors) in the dramatic play area of the classroom on a daily basis. Dress them in the same clothing (t-shirts, jeans) children in the United States typically wear and bring out special clothing (for example, manta, shawl, moccasins, turquoise jewelry for Pueblo girls) for dolls only on special days.
6. COOK ETHNIC FOODS but be careful not to imply that all members of a particular group eat a specific food.
7. BE SPECIFIC ABOUT WHICH TRIBES USE PARTICULAR ITEMS.
when discussing cultural artifacts (such as clothing or housing) and traditional foods. The Plains tribes use feathered headdresses, for example, but not all other tribes use them.
8. CRITIQUE A THANKSGIVING POSTER DEPICTING THE TRADITIONAL, STEREOTYPED PILGRIM AND INDIAN FIGURES.
... especially when teaching older elementary school children. Take care to select a picture that most children are familiar with, such as those shown on grocery bags or holiday greeting cards. Critically analyze the poster, noting the many tribes the artist has combined into one general image that fails to provide accurate information about any single tribe. (Stutzman, 1993).
9. AT THANKSGIVING, SHIFT THE FOCUS AWAY FROM RE~ENACTING THE "FIRST THANKSGIVING."
Instead, focus on items children can be thankful for in their own lives, and on their families' celebrations of Thanksgiving at home.
Besides using these strategies in their classrooms, teachers need to educate themselves.
MacCann (1993) notes that stereotyping is not always obvious to people surrounded by mainstream culture. Numerous guidelines have been prepared to aid in the selection of materials that work against stereotypes (for example, see Slapin and Seale [1992]).
Teachers must
provide accurate instruction not only about history; but also about the contemporary lives of Native Americans. '.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Me~n~Milly~n~Punk
Good Sunday Morning!
I have been reading and thinking; reading more, thinking more... And am hoping that you have all had a chance to get over to Casey~Face's Blog entry about her diagnosis.
>CLICK HERE< for her news; (or click on her name also).
I am happy that we are home; and have been trying now to get my attached garage cleaned out a bit. Doing this only guarantees that the shed will be messier though. hehehe But that's OK too. I shall get to that one shortly enough. It is so much easier to be working outside when the temps are in the high 60's and lower 70's... Yes, I do love this weather!
I know too that I have much more catching up to do on here. Not only in YOUR blogs, but in my own as well.
(Can you stand another picture from Labor Day)?
.
.
.
.
.
And then came more worrying about medical tests... (and how much pain they would put KC in all over again; and for what?)...
Her tests were early Friday morning. She was ill already. The nurse said it would take 3-4 hours to complete. I asked for the direct line to that department, and she gave it to me. I made a few phone calls to friends and relatives while I sat in one of the lobbies at the hospital... And then left, to go collect our little things from the hotel...
Arriving at the hotel, my cell phone rang. Seeing that it was a Froedtert number, I honestly felt my heart stop...
...It was Casey. She was ready to be picked up. And yes, they had finished what they needed in about 45 minutes. (I don't think I have ever packed up a hotel room so fast in my life)! hehehe
.
.
.
.
Some of you know this already, (and I really don't mean to be boring you), but after KC's tests, we headed home to await her diagnosis. Getting about halfway back, she experienced MAJOR pain (in yet a new place). Since I still had that direct phone number, she easily got a hold of the doctor that had done her tests.
(It was a horse~apiece as to whether we would turn and go back to Froedtert, or continue home)...
.
.
,
,
We continued home, and in record time, I had her at the clinic in town... She still has pain, but like I said in my comments on KC's blog, we will await to hear back from her surgeons as to the specific diagnosis, and the protocol for dealing with it all.
.
.
After seeing her doctor up here, (and since she had taken some pain pills); Roberta said she would bring her friend Jessica out, and that they would get Casey, and her car, over to Dereks.
Good to see them too!
.
.
.
.
But they got Casey, (and her car), over to Dereks without any problems. She will be here right after mass now.
And there are promises of better days ahead...
Lordy, I am LATE! I have heard the war planes pass over 4 times, signaling the start of the Packer Game, and it is high time for me to go connect with my television!!! (Miss Punk does NOT like the Air Force one little bit; too noisy for her, and she lays at my feet, shaking a bit with each pass)...
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
XOXO
Anne
.
.
hehehe
Good Morning All;
I will be leaving here shortly to get to Froedtert... Have to take the dog out yet, and to (re)pack our little things...
Traffic sounds horrendous.
Big city traffic; (me no likey)!
Caseys nice little Dell Laptop computer seems to be MORE than a bit possessed, so will try to take care of this thing when we get back to Flintville! (Maybe I should just throw it in the river)?
Yes CaseyAnne, if it had a backside I would kick it for you!
Love to All! And have a "wunnaful" weekend! I will write more later!!!
XOXO
Anne
Good Morning All;
I am no better today with respect to either my migraine or my attitude... So maybe just bear with me. Pretty please?
On the bright side, (and quite thankfully), BOTH attitude and headaches seem to improve with time. Well, at least neither have killed me yet... hehehe ?!?
A warm thank you too, to both Connie and WYCK who I see have left their words of love for Baby Mariah and her family. (Please see my blast; this ONLY takes but a few seconds of your time)... Sadly, the next child with cancer could well be your own.
Casey and I are headed back down to Milwaukee (Froedtert), later this morning. Caseys surgeons have called, and the biopsies that they had taken (BEFORE she had woken from her sedation) were all negative. She will be undergoing more tests on her insides now.
...And I am SO ready to scream... (Just don't know at whom anymore).
I had my Good Morning Show on earlier, and they had reported that Governor Doyle now has a plan to get kids into college. He is having 8th and 9th grade kids sign a thing to say that they will maintain a "B" average throughout their high school years. In exchange for doing so, he will guarantee that they will have a place within the UW~System.
Ummm... Yeah, right.
I sure hope these kids are either blind or alcoholic; because DAMN, if they get truly sick they WILL be asked to leave.
Don't know what's going on? Please >CLICK HERE< for that story.
Bunch of garbage.
Oh, he might pull them in, but keeping them will be a whole 'nother story should they chance to have a REAL illness.
(Yes, I have already shot off a note to the news station about this all too).
So... What's your "take" on this?
Do you really think I should be on the road with this attitude? hehehe
Or do you think I should just take a swing by the governors mansion or the capitol in Madison and start hollering at him?
Time for me to fly! Hope you all have a grand Thursday!
XOXO
Anne
Good Morning All;
It is the middle of the night here. I have been wandering aimlessly through my own little cyberworld, (and yours); battling my head, (and of course I have my sunglasses on at 1:15 in the AM)...
And so, (with permission), I have stolen this blog, almost in its entirety.
This, from my friend ...m... >CLICK HERE< for his own blog.

The Belle Epoche --
A young lad of 13 named Marcel Proust was asked some questions as l'amusement de soiree, pour l'anniversaire de Mlle. Antoinette Felix-Faure.
In her birthday book, the questions read:
Proust's responses then (and again at another party he attended at age 20) gave him status as a "genious" thinker among those of his day even though he revealed that he was sincerely a "mama's boy."
As recently as July of 1996, Graydon Carter and his Senior Editor Amiee Bell decided to feature celebrity responses in the same format in Conde Nast's VanityFair magazine: www.vanityfair.com and the format also appears with Bravo's "Inside the Actor's Studio" hosted by James Lipton and liberally parodied by The Simpsons: http://www.bravotv.com/Inside_the_Actors_StudioI offer this as a different form of the "tag" stuff that permeates the blogosphere (and Yahoo 360, specifically).
Please ignore, nip, tuck, segment, paste and/or respond wholly or in part, as you desire.
Take your time. (Proust himself didn't complete the entire list for seven years).
For more info on Marcel Proust, please note the book, "Proust: Portrait of a Genious" by Andre Maurois.
Thank you ...m...
I hope yourself, and everyone else too, is having a "wunnaful" Wednesday. I am going to try to get some sleep for now...
XOXO
Anne
Good Tuesday Morning to All;
With this last breath of summer blowing our way, there are a few pics to share...
The one at the top, me, exhausted but 'done' with the outside preps for the most part. (I don't know what I would have done without Roberta and CaseyAnne who have been here at every spare moment to help me out)...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Pa taught me well, (as Labor Days go anyway), to light the fire. And so it was high time to be getting the meat on. Roberta was chief cook yesterday, making her way through 10 pounds of (REAL) weiners, two packages of bratwurst (that had been first boiled in beer). Mmmm... Then 20 pounds of burger, and a few little hot dogs that the littler kids all appreciated.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And that soup might be a good thing for Miss Casey. She had an awful start to her day. Much piercing pain, and vomiting too. Derek came out quickly, bringing her dilaudid for her pain. (While it helps more than even 2 vicoden, she still fought the pain and nausea all day). AND yes, she did eat a bit. (She especially loves my beans, (and ate many of those critters)! hehehe
.
.
.
.
.
I promise to get everyones pics on here at some point. (But if I did that today, the blog would be much too long).
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Later, Casey had left with Miss Kelli to collect the horses and to get a ride through the woods and back home here.
.
.
.
Milly would NOT quiet down for love or money, but a bit of water sprayed on her kennel brought peace to the world... (for a while anyway).
.
.
.
More to come later Folks... I have a doctor appointment this morning to check my thyroid; maybe I shall find out why I am so bloody tired all the time. I am hoping my new glasses have come in too. ~~While at the dentists office last week, the frame had broken... I needed no dentist care that day. (Yay). But surely I needed a new frame for my lenses. Why does it seem that everything is always discontinued when I need replacement for something? Gee, just lucky like that I suppose. hehehe But I did order up the frames (pieces) that I could from the backstock, so when/IF this happens again, I will have my own inventory to pick from... hehehe
Hope you all had a grand Labor Day. And that you shall be enjoying this short week also. Good Luck to all the kids around here that finally go back to school today too!
XOXO
Anne
Good Morning!
I am going to 'cheat' this morning... and do a bit of copying and pasting for you...
From Yahoo Answers (on our 360), Miss Suzi asks what Labor Day means to each of us?
So do I...
Here is her entry on it. and her own perceptions. >CLICK HERE< (I thought I would use orange, just because)... hehehe
Clicking on a few of her links, I did find the "history" of Labor Day. To know more about this special day for us, >CLICK HERE< (But yes, I do think Suzis questions are better than the answers found here, as this is only ONE point of view... the origins)...
You all know what it means to me! (Because that is ALL I can talk about "until")... And yes, my famous beans are in the oven!!! Mmmm....
Be safe. Have fun!
And DO let me know what it means to you, and what you are doing for this day...
XOXO
Anne
Good Morning All;
As I sat back here, reading in relative quiet (save for the occasional car and the pealing church bells); I happened to hear Miss Punk (quiet herself)... But out in the kitchen~
It is one of those noises one becomes accustomed to, (like living next to the railroad tracks)...
I figured she was going to eat her own breakfast, since we both slept until almost 8 this morning! hehehe That is WAY rare. (Kinda like how I like my steaks done).
Suddenly I hear this resounding "CRASH" ...
Within a nanosecond of that, Miss Punk shoots under my desk, and is wrapped securely around my footstool... with one eyeball looking up at me...
(As if to say, "I was here all the time, don't you KNOW that?") ???
I go to the kitchen.
Caseys leftover coffee from yesterday is spilled all over the floor and soaking into my rug. I scrubbed the floor a bit, soaking up the flavored cream, the sugars, and the tan river that was flowing east by southeast.
All this was going to wait til AFTER the picnic. (I mean, what exactly, would be the point in scrubbing BEFORE all these friends and family come walking through the house on Labor Day)???
God must have had other plans...
Oh well.
Have a "wunnaful" Sunday!!! (I've got a rug to scrub). hehehe
XOXO
Anne
Good Morning Everyone!!!
I am still laughing at the above picture...
Seems as Punkin does NOT like the gliders when they fly over. hehehe
Seeing it come from back by the woods, fly over, and back again; the poor dog was so upset she stained her face, her legs, and her shoulders just trying to keep up!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
It really was hilarious! Those dogs shot straight into the fields, (thick with weeds as they are), and just went crazy. Can anyone say "corneal abrasion"? But both are fine...
We were busy all day! And I had SO much help too.
Casey and Roberta BOTH out to pitch in...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I tried to clean up a bit behind them. And hung out my rugs to freshen them up on the line...
.
..
..
Mostly I mowed the lawns... Not having a single problem either; UNTIL I broke the deck that is...
Danged CUB CADET!!!! (I will be repairing that this morning... I am far from being done with the mowing). I might have cussed a bit...
And it couldn't have happened while I was mowing up top. No, it had to wait 'til I had used up almost the last of my gasoline going back down the trail to the woods.
I might still be upset... Thank Heavens that glider came along when it did!
Hope you all have a grand weekend!
...And for those of you close enough; C'mon and have a hot dog with us on Monday afternoon!!!
And for those of you NOT within driving distance, just let me know what time your flight arrives!
Love to ya!
XOXO
Anne
