[My] Life in Wisconsin

Blog #2 (b)

She looks happy enough!

.
.
Good Afternoon...
(I am hoping it is for you anyway).

My day began with that shower I spoke of earlier... At least it should have.

.
Wanting to get outside, and mosey around a bit, I had to shower first. I was still in my jammies when I'd posted my 1st blog. hehehe

I go to get in the shower, I disrobe. I brush my hair. I find I cannot stand my "gray" anymore-

So then I get out one of those colored boxes that I seem to have a zillion of (whenever I don't want to color anyway).
WTH?
My choices are Medium Blond.  No.
Platinum blond.   Uh-Uh.
Or
Champagne blond.   NO WAY.
>>>>sigh<<<<
Not even close. Those are for highlighting-

Desperate now, I concede that I either want color, (or a laundry maker).

FYI- When Berta was at Martins College of Cosmetology, she shared that we are never to use the word "dye" when doing our hair. We are to use the word "color" as a verb. This is the acceptable way of saying it being that 'dye' can be so dreary and sad..

So back to the cupboard I go...

I finally find a Clairol Dark Blond.  (Kind of 'cool' for this time of year, but it'll do quite nicely in a pinch). It must have been on sale when I picked it up- I have never used the Clairol stuff before-
No big deal. How hard can a different brand be?

I rip it open, and dump it out.
Right off the bat, I spy a tube #1, a bottle #2, and a tube #3.
.
.
.

Cnv1455
.
.Clearly marked too.
(I love easy stuff).

.

It even has a PRE-conditioner. "Grey pre-texturizing pretreatment" Ooh~La~La
(This is clearly marked Tube # 1). Whoo Hoo!  This little tube is to make my grays more receptive to the dye. (er, I mean color).
Those of us with gray know exactly how stubborn those hairs can be.

Before I put this gunk on my head, I smell it.
It smells good- and NO gross flowery smell either.
It just is a nice unobtrusive smell that I can live with.

I put it in my hair, working it "all the way through to the ends".
Rereading to double check the instructions... No I am not supposed to rinse it out.
Obligingly, I leave it in.

I go to put gloves on...
Not simple, I have just washed my hands of the leftover pretreatment.
I dry them well.
I get those gloves on. (The ones that are generally about 3 sizes too small for anyones hands).

I proceed to mix the #2 bottle with the #3 tube I am shaking it (as best as my pain~filled back allows).

Then I put it in my hair, carefully doing the parts, and making sure I begin with those nasty grays.
I must wait 25 minutes, minimum; or the alloted time indicated by your allergy and hair test (that you did 24 hours in advance).

I wait.
In these 25 minutes, I realize how nice this Clairol smells, compared to the L'Oreal.  My eyes are not watering, and my sinuses are not drying up from the chemicals.

I also realize I am more than a little chilled. (I should have warmed that little bottle up before I put it all over my head).

I sneak into the living room- The thermostat gets jacked up.
65 degrees is not warm enough. Not with a wet head, and a damp towel on my shoulders, (not to mention my obvious state of undress).

I hear the furnace fire up... I was comfy in minutes.

I wait the desired 25 minutes as indicated in the instructions.
(
I don't peek. I never do. I like to be surprised by the end results).

I rinse.
After a wee bit of towel drying, THEN I peek in the mirror.

I see me there, but surely not what I expected to see.
YOKES baby, ALL OF MY GRAY HAIRS ARE STILL THERE!
(Sheesh, talk about color resistant)!

I happened to turn around, on the countertop, (cleverly hidden behind the empty box), is a tube that says 2b.
What the hell is a 2b anyway? That's not even a bra size for Barbie for cryin' out loud.

I read the instructions... (again)...
Yeah. Oh I see....

2b tube goes into the developing mix (aka Bottle # 2).
It did NOT say this before!

I know how to count already. 1, 2, and 3.
So that is what I did. 1, 2, plus the tube # 3.
(Little bastards at Clairol, they snuck that little 'b' in there on me)!!!!

So the obvious question is,  JUST WHAT IN THE HELL DID I JUST HAVE ON MY HEAD FOR THE LAST HALF HOUR?!?

I double~check the mirror. My hair, (and its gray), is still there.
I do a pull test. It hurts. (That means my hair is still well attached anyway).

I check tube # 3.  Tube #3 is conditioner.
No problem then. (Conditioner mixed with developing creme is a double conditioner).  Actually it is in triplicate, given the fact that Tube # 1 is probably only a conditioning agent of some sort.

Ah! Now I have done a really great conditioning job on my gray hair.
It is so very nice and soft!
And oh!, completely touchable!
Nice.

(And gray).

.
.
.
.
I must think...
Since I have tube # 2 which is the "color" (the tube with the stinking little "b" on it); and I really like the color, how about I mix it with one of the other developers and apply that way?
Makes sense to me!

Quite quickly I am back in business.

I mix it with the other.

I shake. (It doesn't mix so well).
I'll give it a few minutes and shake it again.  Wait! I still have to dry my hair...
.
.
.
Good grief, it is hot in here with the blow dryer going...
Who the heck turned the dang heat up anyway?
(I sneak back out to the living room and turn the thermostat down).

I shake that bottle again.
I am losing strength, as shaking is not a 'thing' that is nice to my back.
(Matter of fact, this hurts like hell). Annie, for Gods sake you gave birth 4 times.  Grin and bear it already.

Not grinning, I bite the bullet and shake a little more more, then to apply.

Oops. - I forgot to put on gloves.

I put container on sink, dry hands, and don those itty bitty gloves.
I shake once more for good measure.
I turn bottle upside down, and a carrot comes out.
A teeny tiny wormie little carrot?  (Well it looked like a teeny tiny wormie little carrot to me)...
And it even "plopped" out with a big old and unbecoming fart noise!

I look closely at the bottle and the developer from box #2.
It is all gooky, and terribly un-homogenized. (Check the above picture).

I know this will not work one little bit.

I just about kill myself looking in that cupboard again.
Way in the back is a box... It IS dye. (er, I mean color)! YAY!
Thank goodness for L'Oreal!
A box of a brunette color waiting just for me in that cupboard.

I am not in high school anymore, and brunette is too dark for me.
It makes me look sickly and pale. Being Native, "pale" is not good.
But it is what I have, so I will work with it.

I repeat most of the above steps, minus a few cuss words.

Sadly, it was NOT brunette.

(Thank God my hair fell out).
J/K hehehe

Good Morning All;
Had a bit of a rough night. Forgetting to take my 2nd pain pill of the day, I climbed into bed- About 3 hours into my 'nap', I woke, and could not move.  What the heck does one do in this situation? I took inventory...
Back? Hurts.
Bladder? Getting there.
Patience level? Hanging in there.
So I went back to sleep. (For another hour anyway).
Rechecked all my gauges when I woke again.  Still OK-  Back worse though.
So for a third time I fell back to sleep...
There comes a time in the course of human events that no pain, and no 'adjustment' will empty my bladder, save for a trip to the toidy. I might have cussed a bit as I finally got to my feet, and a few more curses as I made my way to the powder room. But oh it felt good to sit down and piddle. hehehe
Then to get a pain pill. My back is a bit better now. (Know that "better" is NOT the correct word, less painful would be More politically correct).

Politically correct? Made aware of this by Will, and entitled the "
The Conservative Bible Project", I am having a rough time actually believing that the Bible can be rewritten, again. This time adding a political swing to it. Click here.  Ask your pastors etc what they think.
Senator Warren Rudman "The millions of Christians in this country reflect just about every conceivable political point of view. For one highly conservative group to proclaim itself 'the Christian Coalition' strikes me as decidedly un-Christian arrogance.... We reflect countless races, religions and lifestyles, and we often differ on questions of morality and behavior.
The only way so diverse a nation can survive is by all of us practicing a high degree of tolerance.
But tolerance is not the way of the Christian right. Its leaders want to impose their one-size-fits-all morality on everyone.
It won't work.
When any group tries to impose its values on everyone else, the result will inevitably be resentment, hatred and violence."

Thoughts? It is Thursday, and I should be able to come up with a few- (Not 13 perhaps, but I shall try)...

Not normally one to even click on the Emusing site, I could not help myself on this one.
Entitled, "The Insult Generator", I had to giggle when it said this about me. "You politically ambiguous pseudo-genius vain b*tch!(That's a kind one). hehehe
Besides, "
pseudo-genius" is pushing it...

Who's your kicker?  Well... The Packers all time leading scorer.
They are not capable of growing their own."     Still laughing!

Casey has to make her appointment to get her Swine Flu shot.
Dr Steve Kagan warned of the H1N1 virus in these words.
"This virus is such that you could have a sore throat in the morning, a chest cold in the evening, and be on a ventilator for life support that night- and maybe not make it through to the next day- So this is the kind of virus you have to take very seriously."

I received this in my email...

Wasp Spray
I have a friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area who was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection.
She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.
The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate; while with the pepper spray they have to get too close to you and could overpower you.
The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote.
She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. You could also keep it in your car and it would  be legal. Interesting thinking. Be safe.

I haven't seen even ONE wooly bear caterpillar this year. Have you? Legend claims that if the rusty band is wide, then it will be a mild winter. The more black there is, the more raunchy the winter.
I never did know if that meant temps or snowfall?

Speaking of weather...
Pete Petoniak has just muttered the "S" word in the forecast for
Saturday and Monday. He tried to hide this with the mention of mere 'flakes'. I don't think so!
Flakes are either snow or dandruff, and since he is the weatherman, I don't think he was talking about his hair.
But first, rain today- a few showers.

I got a bunch of work done around the place. My back did not like it much, but oh well.
The hoses are put away for the year- And all I have left to do is get the water shut off- (I have to crawl down in the water pit for that, and prefer to have someone else around when I do that).
I mowed a bit around the house and the shed.

I have to save a few seeds from my messy flowers too. Will get to that in~between raindrops today.
(Michelle, are you ever coming for your Black~Eyed~Susans)?

German men are 'world's worst lovers'

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/6241440/German-men-are-worlds-worst-lovers-with-English-men-in-second-place.html

ROTFLMAO!

German men are 'world's worst lovers' with English men in second place

A poll of 15,000 women found that Germans are considered "too smelly".

English lovers came second because they are so lazy, while men from Sweden were branded "too quick to finish" and came third.

Spanish men topped the table as the best lovers, followed by Brazilians and Italians.

The poll, carried out by global research site www.OnePoll.com, asked women from 20 countries to rate nations on their ability in bed and give reasons for their answers.

Germans were deemed to have bad body odor, Englishmen were accused of letting women do all the work, whilst Swedes were a bit too quick to finish.

Men from Holland were "too rough" between the bed covers and Americans were accused of being "too dominating" in the bedroom.

Greek men were said to be a bit too soppy.

Other countries who didn't fare well in the poll were Scotland (too loud), Turkey (too sweaty) and Wales (too selfish).

Russian men crept in at tenth place amid accusations they are too hairy for the average woman.

A spokesperson for www.OnePoll.com added: ''These results are an eye-opener for thousands of men around the world and female travelers might judge potential new lovers by looking at these results.''

Hurry Up and Wait...

Yes, Jack Frost came-
Two mornings in a row.

.
.
.
Good Morning Everyone!
A damp, soggy, and rainy morning here- Brightened by a phone call from CaseyFace.

I had previously written that I didn't believe that many apples would be left on the trees after the windstorms we had.

I was wrong! There are tons left...

.
.
.
Cnv1379
Now look closely at the red circle.
There is an apple that has 2 large bites out of it.
How the heck does that happen, and 25 feet in the air?!?
.
.
Sue and Glenn came to take the apples for their deer-
Then the pears too.

They had to fight to take a few of them...
.
.
.
Cnv1382
The fly and the bee, suckling the nectar for their respective lunches.
.
.
After the wind ~ and unlike the apples, there were very few pears remaining attached.
.
.
Cnv1383
.
.
One day I will count the number of 5~gallon pails that they take. (I just know it is a good thing that they have a pickup truck).
The fruit is heavy too.

Sue was so worn out that she apparently fell asleep...
.
.
.
Cnv1380
hehehe
.
.
Maybe they should have used the baskets from the fields...

When I had come home from my thyroid poke the other day, and came around the corner in Flintville, all I saw were these high bobbling baskets.  I laughed out loud as I grabbed for my camera-

Taking this as I drove past them.

.
.
Cnv1378
At first glance I'd had no idea what I was looking at either.
Too funny!
.
.
The weather has been changing rapidly-  The furnace will run in the morning for a bit, then later in the day it is warm in here and all the windows get opened up.
Those days that you really aren't sure what to wear. A tee under the sweatshirt works well...

.
.
.
Cnv1377
Thought this sky picture was very strange indeed.
Almost as if there are 2 or 3 fronts; one on top of the next.

.
.
I am a jeans and sweatshirt kind of girl. Add a pair of socks and sneakers and I am comfy as all get out. ...Just don't forget the back brace... That too, very comfortable, and comforting as well.

Still, the pain. Not as bad as before though, so I am happy with that.
I will be going back in on the 13th for that second shot in my back. Damned if I do, and damned if I don't.

I finally went to the DMV to renew my drivers license. (Better late than never). I had also been given a form from the spine doctor for a DIS ID card.  I am upset about this now, but imagine it will be safer come snow and ice, not to have to take as many chances walking to/from my car.

Had a problem with parking as I visited with Roberta in the hospital- Of course Punk goes with me, so that means no valet parking.  As I pulled into Bellin, the man allowed me to park in the 30 minute space, but told me he would be off the clock in a little while too, so to keep it short.

I did just that.
.
.

Cnv1334

Her results were a negative pass- Her  cardiologist had given her nitroglycerin pills, and started her on some beta blockers too. She has been fainting- Her cardiologist will now be working in conjunction with a neurologist. No other news there.
This was the first time I had even seen her in almost a year.

My spine doctor (what the heck are they called anyway)?, told me that my back will probably not get better, but that there are ways to stop the progression. Not sure what more I can do, but am willing to try just about anything.
Again, I have always taken my vitamins, minerals and extra calcium...
But it gets rather defeating to hear that you can't go back.

Speaking of going back...

Cnv0257
Master Gabriel was born 4 years ago yesterday...
.
.
Due to the fact that the pain management clinic kept me there for over two hours yesterday, we didn't have a chance to see him- They were leaving as Casey called-  Casey will bring him his little gifts when she is done at school today.

4 years ago, things were still salvageable with respect to Roberta caring for her boys.
Not so now.
I have no regrets of admitting my own inability to care for Master Gabriel. Only for my inability.  I know it would have been near impossible to care for him and Casey last year. And even more-so, in hindsight, to have cared appropriately for him with my back like this.

Yet God has seen fit to give Gabriel a whole family.  One that loves him so, and one that cares for him too.  One that has been raising him up right too.
The State is still dragging their feet with respect to his adoption, so please just keep saying those prayers. Kristin asked me, and I couldn't answer; I don't even know if Berta knows she has lost Gabriel and Sam.  Having not been in contact with Roberta, I don't know what she knows, or what she may/may not be aware of.

I do know this much... She has not even bothered to see him, or to inquire after him, since the beginning of the year. That speaks volumes of sadness to me, and weighs heavily on my heart and in my prayers for him.
I know that she has a decent job at one of the paper mills in town. And she spoke of having to move that weekend too.  Other than that, to bring up the boys would have been too freakin' hard on me; ultimately on her too. This whole business of birthing and leaving makes my blood boil.
She did not learn that from me. wth?

I'd better close-  Casey has just called, and will be bringing out my new prescriptions after she sees Gabriel and family.

Still soggy out there. Not too sure what the forecast is, (I overslept), but I do know it's a good thing that it's rain and not snow.

My love to all.
And do have a wunnaful weekend!

XOXO

Must get back to bed shortly if I am going to have my scan at 9.
But first, this is revolting...

It should fall under "Good Grief!"

These mums are police officers, not paedophiles - for crying out loud...

By Richard Littlejohn

When our children were young, my wife belonged to a baby-sitting circle.

No money changed hands. Hours were ‘earned’ and ‘spent’ accordingly.

The arrangement worked well and ensured that our bambinos were looked after by mums who had children of their own, and not by hormonal teenage girls likely to invite their unsuitable boyfriends into our homes, with all the horrors that can entail.

Leanne Shepherd has been told that she can no longer look after her friend's child as it is seen as an illegal childminding business

Some of the group had part-time jobs and the deal meant that they didn’t have to pay a childminder or dump their kids in a creche.

To the best of my knowledge, none of the children was murdered or molested.

CLICK TOP LINK FOR THE POLL
Should parents who look after friends' children be checked by officials?

These days, such a set-up would almost certainly be against the law, as two policewomen from Buckinghamshire have just discovered to their cost.

The Thames Valley detectives, who gave birth within a few months of one another, take care of each other’s daughter two days a week as part of a job share.

But now they have been told that unless the arrangement ends immediately, they will be prosecuted.

Detective Constable Leanne Shepherd received a visit from an inspector working for the education watchdog Ofsted, who informed her that she was running an illegal childminding business.

Rules state that friends cannot gain ‘reward’ for looking after a child for more than two hours. In this case, the ‘reward’ was defined as free child care.

If the agreement is to continue, both women must register with Ofsted and abide by the myriad rules, regulations and background checks which apply to professional childminders and kindergartens.

DC Shepherd has received a letter from Ofsted telling her that she would be subject to ‘random surveillance’ to make sure she was not looking after her colleague’s little girl.

She has had to change her work schedule and fork out £260 a month for nursery fees — a huge chunk of her £900-a-month salary.

This ludicrous story is both depressing and disturbing in equal measure. As so often, it’s difficult to know where to start.

The rules governing ‘reward’ are contained in the Childcare Act 2006.

Clearly this legislation went through on the nod, without any proper parliamentary scrutiny.

MPs have simply given up their responsibility to sift through proposed new laws line by line.

A cursory examination of this clause, in particular, would have thrown up the obvious pitfalls.

It should never have made the statute book.

The State has no business interfering in consensual childminding arrangements between private citizens.

The idea that two policewomen should be subjected to criminal records checks before they can babysit each other’s daughters is beyond preposterous, as is the notion that they should be the target of a sinister surveillance operation carried out by a government agency.

Then there’s the question of who grassed them up to Ofsted in the first place. This vindictive individual must have been aware that the babysitting pact was illegal.

What was his or her motivation? Who benefits from the persecution of these unfortunate women?

Certainly not their daughters, who are said to love the time they spend together, and have grown as close as sisters.

It doesn’t do much for the smooth running of the overstretched police force, either.

Because the detectives now have to fit in with regular childminding hours, it has placed an additional burden on their CID colleagues.

Nor does the taxpayer gain from it. Quite the opposite, in fact. DC Shepherd says she intends to apply for child benefits to help meet the nursery fees.

The only winner here is Britain’s burgeoning bureaucracy. Another ‘crime’ solved, another box ticked.

Three-quarters of all child welfare legislation has been passed in the past 12 years and is applied rigorously without any proper sense of proportion.

Most of it is irrelevant and intrusive and serves only to irritate, inconvenience and criminalise decent parents trying to make their way in the world and do the right thing.

Since 1997, Labour has set about nationalising the family and childhood.

With much of the country apparently in an advanced state of paedomania, the politicians and their Guardianista apparatchiks have grasped every opportunity to seize more power.

As the recent furore over criminal checks on volunteers who drive children to football matches and help out at playgroups demonstrates, every parent is considered a potential paedophile, every grandad a leering Gary Glitter, every man who comes into contact with a young girl a Roman Polanski, every mum a Rose West.

Bearing the brunt of this assault on family life are the law-abiding, taxpaying middle classes, while the social services continue to indulge unsuitable, slattern mothers and the sort of pervert and sadist who killed Baby P.

What kind of sick country threatens to prosecute two policewomen for the ‘crime’ of looking after each other’s children?

Call Me Dave will have enough on his plate economically when he seizes the short straw next year.

But he should also make it a priority to reverse Labour’s scandalous assault on private family life and get the State out of our babysitting circles.

So, what do/did you do with your children when they were little, and you were on the payroll?

Personally I had the very best babysitters in the world; and all from one family too!

Good Morning Everyone!
Trying to keep this short and sweet as I have to be to the clinic by 8:30. Thyroid tests. The "new" pills I have gotten have only made my symptoms worse.
Armour recently reformulated their pills. I am not impressed. (Methinks they left the 'thyroid' out).

Took this picture at sunset the other day.  Sadly, it does not reflect the purples and the oranges that I'd seen with my naked eye.

Two days ago there were still so many apples on the trees- Just made for picking!  After yesterdays wind storms though I don't think there are too many left up there.

After tonight's forecast for low 30's, I don't think this random zinnia will be so pretty either.

Sputnik actually screams, hollers and throws a hissy~fit to be let outside now... Funny that.  I really am waiting him to throw himself on the floor and flail all his legs and pound the floor. (Reianna would do this for almost anything that came with a "no").

Like spoiling a child, I usually allow him to go.
